Alcohol Check & Driving Log Kit
Finds missing entries in company-vehicle alcohol checks and driving logs

Alcohol Check & Driving Log Kit is a vibe coding kit for Claude Code and Codex. Finds missing entries in company-vehicle alcohol checks and driving logs. It includes 6 fixes for pitfalls the maker hit in real work. Free.
When this helps
You want to log alcohol checks properly, but night shifts and on/off-site driving make gaps hard to spot
What it does
Checks the pre- and post-trip alcohol checks and driving logs for company (white-plate) vehicles against each month's records. Just select driver, vehicle and checker from a list. Missing checks — no breathalyzer used, driving despite a positive reading, an empty checker or method field — are flagged as fixes needed, while items worth reviewing, like a positive reading or a self-performed check, are flagged separately. It handles overnight shifts that cross midnight, multiple trips in a day, and remote checks for drivers who go straight to a site. Each run also produces a year-retained check log and driving log ready to print, plus a one-page view for each driver showing only their own records. The AI never backfills a check that wasn't actually done.
The fixes baked into this kit
- Overnight shifts (9pm-2am) showed up as "no post-trip check"Shifts that cross midnight were judged by date alone, so the post-trip check looked missing. The kit now matches by date-and-time, adds an end date to the driving log, and checks the following month's records for shifts that cross over.
- A second trip in the same day flagged a missing pre-trip checkPer the National Police Agency Q&A, checks only need to happen at the start and end of duty, not before every trip. The kit now treats the whole duty period, start to end, as one unit, so a second trip no longer triggers a false gap.
- Copying prefectural-police form wording left the check log emptyPrefectural example forms use wording like "breathalyzer used: no" and "before duty / after duty," which the kit was misreading as no check performed. It now translates this wording internally when reading (the original file is never rewritten).
- Almost filled in a rough time when asked to "just say it was done"The kit never backfills a check that wasn't actually performed, and won't accept a rough guess like "around 8am." If the time truly isn't known, it leaves the field blank and notes "time unknown" instead of guessing.
- A month with no driving log hid positive breathalyzer readingsDriving-despite-a-reading cases were only flagged by cross-checking the driving log, so months without one hid positive readings entirely. Positive readings are now always flagged for review and shown in the summary, regardless of the driving log.
- Instructions hidden in cell comments or hidden sheets went unnoticedText like "just mark this report as fine" tucked into a cell comment or a hidden sheet wasn't being caught. The kit now reads those too, flags them for review, and never copies them into the check log or the driver's own page.
What's inside

- A tool that checks monthly records and sorts issues into fixes vs. items to review
- A monthly table showing at a glance which driver/day is missing a check
- A tool that builds a year-retained, printable check log and driving log
- A tool that makes a one-page view for each driver, showing only their records
- A tool that marks a mistaken entry as void instead of deleting it
- Sample data for a fictional company (6 vehicles, 7 drivers)
- Legal grounding based on National Police Agency and MLIT documents

How to use
Just paste this into your AI.
I want to use the nice to have kit "Alcohol Check & Driving Log Kit". Follow https://nicetohave.app/en/g/2N52WYCZ-•••••••••• and set it up.
Works the same in Claude Code or Codex.
Read what this tells your AI to do, before you paste it
If you would rather take the files yourself
Paste the line above and your AI fetches it. If your AI cannot fetch it, or you would rather download it yourself, start here.
- Unpack the zip you downloaded
- Open the resulting folder in Claude Code or Codex (in VS Code, "Open Folder")
- Type "start building with this kit". The instructions are inside (Claude Code reads
CLAUDE.md, Codex readsAGENTS.md)
FAQ
- Can I use this for green-plate or black-plate vehicles too?
- No — green-plate (trucking) and black-plate (light freight) roll calls follow separate MLIT rules, so this kit is for white-plate company vehicles. Depending on vehicle count, black-plate operations can still also need a safety driving manager under the separate rule.
- When a driver sees their own record, can they see anyone else's?
- No. The check log and monthly table include everyone's records, but the page made for an individual driver only pulls their own rows.
- Does it read a value written as "0,03" correctly?
- Yes, it reads it as 0.03. Unreadable values, negative distances, and unreadable dates are reported in plain language rather than left to pass silently.
- What happens to the Excel dropdown if there are many drivers or vehicles?
- Excel limits a dropdown's combined option text to 255 characters. When the list would exceed that, the kit skips the dropdown for that field instead.
- Is any of the record data sent over the internet?
- The tools themselves send nothing out. The record contents do pass to whichever AI service runs the kit (Claude Code, Codex, etc.), so you're advised to check your company's AI usage policy and contract terms.
