Subscription & Contract Ledger Kit
Turns contracts into a ledger and lists cancellation deadlines soonest first

Subscription & Contract Ledger Kit is a vibe coding kit for Claude Code and Codex. Turns contracts into a ledger and lists cancellation deadlines soonest first. It includes 7 fixes for pitfalls the maker hit in real work. Free.
When this helps
Miss a cancellation deadline and you pay a full year for a contract you don't use
What it does
Builds a ledger of SaaS, subscription, lease and maintenance contracts from invoices, card statements, contracts and sign-up emails. Renewal and cancellation deadlines are calculated using Japan's Civil Code method and listed soonest first. Matching against the card statement surfaces recurring charges missing from the ledger and payments that continue after a contract was supposedly cancelled. It also lists candidates for unused or oversized contracts and totals the annual cost. All dates and counting are done by the tool; whether to keep or cancel is always the company's decision. Card numbers and passwords are never kept in the ledger.
The fixes baked into this kit
- Mistaking a vendor's notice for your own cancellation deadlineClauses like "We will notify you 30 days before changes" are notices from the vendor, not your cancellation deadline. The kit drops vendor-notice wording and only reads clauses about cancelling, terminating or not renewing.
- Expiry date vs. renewal date: deadlines off by one day"One month before expiry" and "one month before renewal" differ by a day for a one-year contract. The kit counts to the day before the anniversary date under Civil Code Article 143, defaults to the earlier date when it's unclear which is meant, and shifts to the prior business day on holidays.
- Missing the next deadline for monthly contractsOnce a monthly contract's current deadline passes, the next one (e.g. 10 days later) can get missed. The kit lists upcoming deadlines soonest first and flags any within 30 days as urgent.
- Copying passwords or card numbers into the ledgerInitial passwords from sign-up emails and card numbers from statement fields can get copied straight into the ledger. The kit redacts anything matching a checksum or label, while keeping account, customer and employee numbers that aren't sensitive.
- Same service on different department cards flagged as a price mismatchWhen the same service is paid by different cards per department, statement charges can get matched to the wrong contract and falsely flagged as "amount differs." The kit assigns each charge to the contract with the closest matching amount.
- Prompt-injection text hidden in emails or contract fieldsEmails and contract fields can contain text written to instruct the AI (split across lines, addressed "To the assistant," or hidden comments). The kit flags only the matching text in the first line of its reply and never stores it in the ledger.
- Internal notes or amounts leaking into cancellation messagesDraft cancellation messages can end up containing internal notes (e.g. "switching because we don't use this") or amounts. The kit builds messages only from fields that are safe to send, then re-checks the result and holds it as a draft if anything slipped in.
What's inside
- A contract ledger (Excel) built from invoices, statements, contracts and sign-up emails
- A renewal/cancellation deadline calendar, dated using Japan's Civil Code method
- Review candidates for unused, oversized or overlapping contracts
- Card statement matching (finds charges missing from the ledger and payments that continue after cancellation)
- Lease terms that can't be cancelled early, plus accounting-standard estimates
- Draft cancellation/confirmation messages to send to vendors (no internal info included)
- Detection and redaction of prompt-injection text, card numbers and passwords
- A sample dataset (fictional company) to try the kit end to end

The first three decisions
- The company name (and accounting basis, if there are leases)
- The card statement (CSV or Excel)
- Whether there are contracts not paid by card (leases, maintenance, etc.)

How to use
Just paste this into your AI.
I want to use the nice to have kit "Subscription & Contract Ledger Kit". Follow https://nicetohave.app/en/g/SANNQWHC-•••••••••• and set it up.
Works the same in Claude Code or Codex.
Read what this tells your AI to do, before you paste it
If you would rather take the files yourself
Paste the line above and your AI fetches it. If your AI cannot fetch it, or you would rather download it yourself, start here.
- Unpack the zip you downloaded
- Open the resulting folder in Claude Code or Codex (in VS Code, "Open Folder")
- Type "start building with this kit". The instructions are inside (Claude Code reads
CLAUDE.md, Codex readsAGENTS.md)
FAQ
- Can it also check the contents of received invoices, like tax rates or totals?
- No. Checking received invoices is handled by a separate invoice-check kit. This kit only goes as far as building the ledger and deadline/annual-cost estimates from invoices, statements and contracts.
- Does it also judge whether a lease falls under the new lease accounting standard?
- No, it only gives an estimate. Whether a lease falls under the new standard (applying from fiscal years starting on or after April 1, 2027) and how to calculate right-of-use assets or lease liabilities is for your accounting staff or auditor to decide.
- Will the kit send the cancellation notice or email for me?
- No. Submitting a cancellation, operating a vendor's dashboard, or sending an email is always done by you. The kit only goes as far as drafting the message and showing the deadline and method.
- Can it read paper invoices or images directly?
- No. PDF text has to be transcribed by the AI before the tools can read it, and the kit cannot read images or paper statements on its own.
- Can multiple departments manage the same company's contracts together?
- There's no login system, so access is controlled by file or folder permissions on your computer or shared drive. Limit it to general affairs and accounting staff, and never set it to anyone-with-the-link.
