Hiring Interview Kit
Builds question sets and scorecards; flags questions you shouldn't ask or record

Hiring Interview Kit is a vibe coding kit for Claude Code and Codex. Builds question sets and scorecards; flags questions you shouldn't ask or record. It includes 7 fixes for pitfalls the maker hit in real work. Free.
When this helps
You want to standardize interview questions, but you can end up asking discriminatory ones without meaning to
What it does
From a job title and the kind of person you want, it builds a question set with aligned criteria and a scorecard for each interviewer. It checks interviewers' questions, notes and comments for anything that could amount to employment discrimination or impression-based language, and uses a redacted copy as the hiring record. It compiles the score gap and evidence across interviewers, and records a decision only once you say "passed" or "declined" — each entry is appended, not decided by the AI. It also drafts the matching notification letter and keeps an applicant ledger (stage, next step, counts by channel). It never decides who passes.
The fixes baked into this kit
- "Any marriage plans?" wasn't caught by the checkThe check only looked for the exact phrase "marriage plans," so official examples (asking only women about marriage or childbirth plans) were added to the self-test, along with variants like "planning to marry" and "once you have children."
- Nearly half of a labor bureau's example questions went uncaughtRoughly half of a published list of examples (nearby landmarks, family business, religion, views on society, etc.) weren't caught by wording. All examples were added to the self-test, while ordinary questions (prior job title, real estate experience) are left unflagged.
- False positives on phrases like "kufuu wa" or "COBOL"Substrings inside ordinary words or phrases (part of a word meaning "ingenuity," the letters "OL" inside "COBOL," or phrases like "customers with family" and "system outage") were triggering flags. Each case was excluded and added to the self-test.
- False positive on offers of disability accommodationA sentence like "we'll interview in writing as an accommodation for disabled applicants" was being flagged. Sentences containing the word "accommodation" are no longer flagged, since offering it is what the law requires.
- Nearly guided users to confirm residency status via a residence cardThe kit almost advised confirming work eligibility via a residence card during screening. It now advises confirming verbally or in writing during screening, with the card shown only after an offer, and rephrases an old example that asked about family consent.
- Manually editing the ledger could forge an offer letterManually changing a ledger's decision field to "offer" let an offer letter be generated. Decisions are now append-only with each entry linked to the previous one; unlinked entries aren't counted and no letter is drafted for them.
- Added lines in rejection letters could include another applicant's nameA line added to a rejection letter could end up containing another applicant's name or instruction-like text and still get sent as-is. The finished letter is now re-checked, and generation stops if such text is found.
What's inside
- An interview question set with aligned criteria and a scorecard for each interviewer
- A tool that checks for questions and records you shouldn't ask or keep, and makes a redacted copy
- A summary that compiles the score gap and evidence across interviewers
- A tool that appends hiring decisions only, preventing the ledger from being overwritten
- Draft notification letters (next round, offer, rejection) that match the recorded decision
- An applicant ledger (stage, next step, counts by channel)
- A sample run with a fictional company and applicants to try end to end
- A list of the sources used (labor ministry and bureau materials) with the date checked

How to use
Just paste this into your AI.
I want to use the nice to have kit "Hiring Interview Kit". Follow https://nicetohave.app/en/g/VE35UTQ2-•••••••••• and set it up.
Works the same in Claude Code or Codex.

If you would rather take the files yourself
Paste the line above and your AI fetches it. If your AI cannot fetch it, or you would rather download it yourself, start here.
- Unpack the zip you downloaded
- Open the resulting folder in Claude Code or Codex (in VS Code, "Open Folder")
- Type "start building with this kit". The instructions are inside (Claude Code reads
CLAUDE.md, Codex readsAGENTS.md)
FAQ
- Will the kit decide who passes or fails?
- No. It only compiles the score average, the gap between interviewers, and the evidence. A decision is only recorded once you say something like "passed" or "declined," and each entry is simply appended.
- If an applicant brings up family matters themselves, does that get recorded?
- No. Even if an applicant volunteers something you shouldn't ask about, the redacted copy — with that content blacked out — is what's used as the hiring record.
- Can a reason be added to a rejection letter?
- The draft starts without a reason, and you're asked to confirm that. If you still want one added, that single line is included — but if it contains another applicant's name or something you shouldn't ask about, the letter isn't generated.
- Does the kit determine whether an interview question is illegal?
- No. It only flags whether a question matches items described by the labor ministry and others, and directs you to confirm anything legal with a labor bureau, Hello Work, or a labor and social security attorney.
- Will the kit's rules still apply after January 2027?
- The kit's rules were verified through January 16, 2027. After that date, a notice to check the source materials appears at the top of the results page, but the kit keeps working as normal.
