Quotation Kit is a vibe coding kit for Claude Code and Codex. Talk it through and get a quote with consistent tax math, with versions tracked. It includes 4 fixes for pitfalls the maker hit in real work. Free.

When this helps

You want to issue a quote, but tax math drifts from the invoice once the order lands

What it does

Describe your products and the request, and it drafts a quote (PDF and Excel) with consistent tax math and formatting. Consumption tax is rounded once per tax rate, matching how invoices are calculated, so the amount never drifts after the order is placed. It handles quotes that mix 10% and 8% rates, companies whose unit prices already include tax, and construction-style quotes broken into trade sections. Before issuing, it checks for total mismatches, missing tax rates, outdated unit prices, expired validity and prices below cost, and automatically separates what goes to the client from internal-only items such as cost price and notes. Revisions are issued as a new version without altering the original, and a ledger tracks every quote's number, client, amount and status.

The fixes baked into this kit

  1. A construction quote with trade-heading lines couldn't be issuedHeading-only lines (e.g. "road earthwork") have no rate, quantity or price, which raised three errors. Fixed so a name-only line is shown as a heading with no number or amount, reported together in one line.
  2. A tax-inclusive company's quote showed no tax-exclusive totalA subsidy guide required both tax-exclusive and tax-inclusive totals on the quote. Fixed so the tax-exclusive total is shown even when unit prices are tax-inclusive.
  3. "Not eligible for subsidy" in an item name clashed with the reduced-rate markThe same symbol collided with the reduced-tax-rate annotation. Fixed to flag a stray mark in an item name and suggest writing it in parentheses instead.
  4. AI picked its own rounding for percentage-based line itemsThe tool had no calculation for rate-based lines (e.g. "overhead is 8% of direct cost"). Fixed to compute the amount, round it per the house rule, and confirm it with the user once before entering it.

What's inside

  • A flow where you just say "start with this kit" and it drafts the quote
  • Tax calculated by rounding once per tax rate, so it matches the invoice
  • The mark and per-rate breakdown needed when 10% and 8% rates mix
  • Showing both tax-exclusive and tax-inclusive totals for tax-inclusive pricing
  • Construction-style quotes split by trade, with heading-only line items
  • Pre-issue checks (total mismatch, missing rate, stale price, expiry, below cost)
  • Separating what goes to the client from internal-only cost and notes
  • Version control and a ledger (reissue as v2, order status, cross-checking)

The first three decisions

  1. Your company details (name, address, registration number, etc.)
  2. How tax is calculated (tax-exclusive or inclusive, rounding)
  3. Your usual wording for validity period and payment terms

What you need

  • No extra costNode.js 18 or newerRuns the tools. Nothing else to install.
  • No extra costChrome or EdgeUsed to generate PDFs automatically. Without it, open the HTML in a browser and "Save as PDF".
  • No extra costExcel, Numbers or Google SheetsUsed to edit the product list. Save it as .xlsx.
  • No extra costA shared folder (for multiple users)Any folder synced to everyone's computer, such as Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive.

How to use

Just paste this into your AI.

I want to use the nice to have kit "Quotation Kit". Follow https://nicetohave.app/en/g/NAK3F5MB-•••••••••• and set it up.

Works the same in Claude Code or Codex.
Read what this tells your AI to do, before you paste it

If you would rather take the files yourself

Paste the line above and your AI fetches it. If your AI cannot fetch it, or you would rather download it yourself, start here.

Download the kit as a zip

  1. Unpack the zip you downloaded
  2. Open the resulting folder in Claude Code or Codex (in VS Code, "Open Folder")
  3. Type "start building with this kit". The instructions are inside (Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md, Codex reads AGENTS.md)

FAQ

Can it also produce invoices or delivery notes?
No. The tax calculation is kept identical to invoices, so issuing an invoice afterward will not change the amount.
Will it tell me which items qualify for the reduced 8% tax rate?
No, it does not decide this. For items that are hard to classify, such as catering or alcohol, check with a tax accountant or the National Tax Agency's site.
Can I use it where quotes need approval before going out?
No approval workflow, mobile viewing or per-person access control is included. It suits one person or a handful of people issuing quotes.
Can two people edit the same quote at once?
No, one quote should be edited by one person at a time. Different quotes can still be worked on at the same time.
Will it email the finished quote to the client for me?
No, it doesn't send anything. Attach the generated PDF to your usual email yourself; it can draft the email text for you.
